  • Find sweet things that aren't high in unnatural sugars. I used to be SO addicted to sugar, and my teeth started to pay for it, so instead of eating candy and all that I would eat Fruit instead, and it helped me get my sweet fix but also avoid sugar. If you have trouble doing that, try putting a limit on how much you can have and then slowly upping the limit. I used to eat a whole bowl of ice cream after dinner, and then slowly started saying "You know, I don't need a whole bowl, I'll just have half." And now I hardly ever have ice cream after dinner and if I do it's only like a scoop. So yeah.. If any of that makes sense. It's early here. Ha ha.
  • Drink enough water daily. Eat something that has a good amount of Protein and Carb combined. Strive for a more BALANCED nutrition daily and do not skip meals! (All foods eaten, turn into sugars in digestion..for all intent and purpose) The carbs quickly convert, giving you a more "instant" rush of sugars...the PROTEINS, however, convert slowly, and so help slow down the digestive conversion of the carbs...to make them release slower into your system and leave you feeling satisfied and comfortable for a longer period of time. One or two cookies would be nice too...if they follow the Protein and "healthy" carbs! <wink>
  • First of all you must read all ingredient labels of everything you ingest..there are huge amounts of sugar in things like soups, chili, ketchup, relish...they are insidious and cloaked with names like fructose, sucrose, corn syrup..etcetera. Secondly, you should substitute Splenda for sugar in baking..and you should not eat any store-bought sweets..cakes/cookies/whatever..if you are serious about it, you can easily overcome the addiction in a few days..but you must be dedicated and willing to spend the time..and then be ever-vigilant at all times because sometimes when manufacturers take fat out of their product, they add more sugar to compensate for the lack of flavor. I kicked the sugar habit so I know it can be done..but you cannot do it occasionally or when you're in the mood..make up your mind and then focus on it..after awhile it will be a breeze and you will not, repeat, not even miss it. :)
