  • My dad would also tell us that if we went out early into the dew covered grass that we would get "dew poisoning." (even though we didn't have cuts on our feet) After looking that up online I see that cattle who stood or waded in wet ground for long periods of time got a skin/hoof disease or fungus that they sometimes called "dew poisoning" or "rain rot" I think that dew poisoning has nothing to do with the dew that is on the grass in early morning hours but is more likely used as a reference to moisture. Have you ever seen electronic equipment that has a "dew" warning light? (a reference to moisture) I think that is a myth. You were probably more in danger of infection from the pollution in the pond than the dew on the grass.
