Does anyone know how to talk to a doctor on a lap band psychiatric evaluation? What do they need to hear from you to get an approval?

I am not a doctor. But from the reason the doctor's on the reality show Big Medicine, who preform gastric bypass, is that: The patient is not willing to do the work - lot of times they want you to drop weight before the surgery. They don't think the patient is mature enough to eat the way after the surgery will require and drink the right amount of liquids. Does the person think the surgery will solve all of the patients problems in life - i.e. unreasonable expectations Is the patient mature enough - can they handle the work, the discipline, the emotional changes, etc. Is the patient looking for a quick fix and has not thought through the risks. Good luck But do know psychiatrists are usually able to spot bullshit artists, so be yourself too. Obviously gastric bypass surgery caries more risks than the lap band, but I assume the criteria for both would be similar.
