I've had both. My current boyfriend is semi the former (depending on how you define it). They can both be attractive looking. But it's really the personality.
-
I prefer a man who's good to me and that I enjoy spending time with. His looks are secondary to those things.
-
I can't have someone prettier than me - I love a man rough around the edges. Tall, a little facial hair, nice voice....
-
gah, i don't know. aiden from sex and the city is like my sole mate i swear, but when you first see him he's all rugged and hot, but after carrie and he break up he loses all this weight and when you see him again he's trim, polished and hot in a way i can't even describe. so i guess, i like a little of both. and if you don't watch sex and the city, then what i just said will make no sense.
-
If a metrosexual is a guy who cares about his looks then that is what I prefer! LOL
-
I don't want a man who spends more time putting himself together than I do. I tend to gravitate towards men who labor outdoors. Farmers tans, dirty hands, and scruff = hella sexy.
-
Rough and rugged. Definitely.
-
I prefer something in between... My husband is rough and rugged most of the time, but when he wants to or needs to, he can polish himself up quite nicely and has really nice taste in dress clothes. That said, man = rough. Metrosexual...well, they are just a little too "soft" for me, most of the time! I can't have him looking better than me!
-
Rough, rugged and wrapped in a flag.
-
I luv a rough, rugged man. A man who gets down and dirty. Its hot.
-
Rough and rugged... Dirty and hairy...lol
-
A bit rough and rugged; like John Wayne or Sam Elliot!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
Rough and rugged.
-
I like clean, rough men. Rugged is good... I like a little facial hair... some light cologne is good... definitely good breath.
-
I'd take rough, rugged and masculine looking. http://www.mostbeautifulman.com/actors/chrisevans/images/pic01.jpg
-
a bit rough and rugged looking. who likes to get down and dirty.
-
Someone who is not a stereotype and has an independent intellect.
-
I loved thugs when I was younger...but now I love guys who take care of themself. Clean inside and out. Someone with "Life Smarts" not "Street Smarts."
-
rough and rugged as long as it's not sloppy. Two thumbs down on the metro - I'm not comfortable with men who take longer to get ready for a date than I do.
-
Rough and rugged.
-
Rough and rugged for sure. But clean
-
I'd prefer one that is a bit rough and rugged looking! It's manly, and I like it!
-
a man that looks after himself, and has pride in his appearance, but is also strong and a bit manly looking..not more feminine than me!
-
For sure not metrosexual looking, but then not so rough and rugged he looks like a hick. I would have to say somewhere in the middle, he just can't be more feminen then me that would be awkward.
-
Metrosexual. They're so cute. :)
-
Gimme a rough and tough man! I like callused hands.
-
I think a man shoud look like a man, and it`s not groomed metrosexual.
-
A bit rough and rugged
-
a little rough around the edges... a man who spends more time in front of the mirror than me, is just not as sexy to me.
-
I prefer a big, rugged and rough man as opposed to a metrosexual. I've never been attracted to that type.
-
Well, I would have to say a little bit of both. He should represent himself as being clean-cut when we go out. I also like a man that isn't afraid of getting dirty and it shows on his hands. If he's a "pretty boy," it tends to make me think that he might be gay.
-
I think any man who uses the term metrosexual or can be called metrosexual is probably not a guy who's dating a lot of women. Give me rugged but not backwoods.
-
well groomed, but natural looking... so he can have his hair toussled a bit, but none of that robinson crusoe ickyness...
-
well it depends on the guy ....i think, both are attractive in there own way
-
I have an ex who is just normal. I have another ex who is more on the "groomed metrosexual" side. My boyfriend right now is a bit rough and rugged looking, but handsome to me. ;) I guess I don't really have a preference.
-
Well, I think there is something to said about both types of men. I dated a total jock, who could bench press 280 pounds and played sports all through high school and college but had the worst social skills with women possible! His whole life consisted of a lot of drinking done at "sausage fests". But it was a real turn on when he could pick me up with one arm and carry me up the stairs. However, he was clueless as to what things made me upset no matter how many times I tried to tell him. My "metro" boyfriend was gorgeous and was even better in bed than the macho guy and it was nice to have a guy who complimented me on what I was wearing and loved to go shopping but it was annoying to fight over the mirror with him and he knew women a little too well. I guess someone in the middle would be my choice!
-
abit rough and rugged looking. stubble can be sexy. make sure you smell good and that clean clothes then youre sorted
-
Something in between.
-
I don't think it would work with me if a guy wasn't sensitive at all. Maybe we need a bit of both?
-
I prefer macho men that have some sensitivity :)
-
I like the sensitive new age guys. It's so cute :):)
-
A mixture of both.
-
Neither and both. I don't want any extreme, but I do want someone well rounded- "macho" at the right moments and sensitive enough in other moments. Luckily I don't have to look much farther than my couch- my honey's sleeping right behind me, and he fits that description.
-
Hey! this is just like http://www.answerbag.com/q_view/391835
-
Can't stand macho men , but maybe way over to the other end of the spectrum would be hard to take.
-
Somewhere in the middle I think.
-
Neither do it for me. I prefer the retrosexual classic type. Good personal hygiene, clean shaven, short hair if he still has any hair. Classic wardrobe which can be plain blue classic jeans and shirts not necessarily a suit.
-
A rough and rugged looking man that is kind and intelligent.
-
Rough and rugged. Metrosexual is too shiny for my taste. Makes me want to mess him up a bit.
-
ruggledly good looking for sure - they are sooo hot!!
-
Rough and rugged....it is a total turn on.
-
Just between us girls, I like 'em rough and rugged!
-
I can like them rugged, I like a man to be strong and proud of his gift of masculinity, but I don't like him to take it over the line. What I mean by that is I like beards for instance, because it's a manly thing. I don't like sexist men. I don't mean that sort of sexuality. I like a man that has a heart and pedastal-worthy morals.
-
definitely rugged and tough. I need a man who can protect me physically.
-
Tough and rugged. Most Definetly. (:
-
I like both, sorry, I love the rugged look, but there are times, like when you are going out, it is nice to see a clean shaven Face.
-
I deffinetly prefer a man who is a bit rough and rugged looking! thats how my boyfriend's like and i absolutly loooove it. :):)
-
Rugged metrosexual, maybe?
-
I prefer rough and rugged looking guys, its just more attractive..also i dont want to be with someone that takes more time than me to get ready.
-
Metro
-
Oh I like mine hard working, rough and rugged looking. They gotta look like they brake a sweat and get dirty all day. Then at the end of the day, I can help clean them up.
-
rough and rugged, i dig that kind of look =)
-
rugged, just not stinky. yeah, i like my men dirty. if i feel he needs some grooming, i'm more than happy to jump in the shower and get it started. mmm...good times.
-
rough and rugged exterior gentle loving interior.
-
Someone who is true to self, who wears clothes that flatter him and make him look great. I love professional clothes on me: they spent hundreds of years getting to the this point in fashion! I nice colored dress shirt with a collar looks great on my guy.
-
something in between maybe but he would have to look a bit more rugged loOking with gorgeous muscles. I WOULD DIE!!
-
Rough and rugged, because I'd hate to think that my fiance was prettier than I was. Or at least thought that XD hehe. And I always preferred the term dandy to metrosexual...Phhht.
-
personally i prefer a rugged man. because that tells me that your a man. metrosexual man gives me signals like you can go both ways and your trying to compete with a female. there is nothing wrong with a man looking good and smelling good. i just like a man man.
-
I don't like the whole 'metrosexual' thing, I like a man with stubble, I love men with scars, and I love men when they are sweaty and dirty.
-
I love the rugged look. there is just something about them that gets me interested.. They seem like the type of people who would be more open to conversation.
-
I'll have Tarzan please because I already have female friends and the metrosexual would serve no purpose.
-
I like prep types. Well groomed. The ones I choose always turn out to be real assholes.
-
It makes no difference to me, as long as they both have a penis.
-
I dont like pretty boys...I like guys that are rough and rugged and look like they can kick anyones A&&. But they have to have a soft side
-
I am kinda metro... not flamboyant or fassion oriented, but I would rather watch a ballet than football, I value agility over strength, and I pride myself on having no calouses. for some reason which only god knows, straight men typicaly put more effort in getting the aproval of other men than women(IE football, womanizing music and personality) honestly women are not impressed with a man who can pick a fight (finish one yes, start one no)
-
both at different times... :)
-
i definately prefer rugged exterior, but when it comes to what lies beneath, i like it clean shaven!
-
Each is different - depends on the guy.
-
If I have to pick between these two choices, I'd go with the well groomed metrosexual. The rough and rugged looking guy probably has a pile of dishes in his kichen sink a mile high, carpet that has caked in food in his home, and has an odor about him that says "farm living is the life for me". At least the metrosexual can take me to a fine restaurant and I won't have to worry about the maitre'd asking if the rodeo is in town. :D
-
give me rough and rugged looking any day...preferrably jeans, boots...and calloused hands...ohhhhh yeah!
-
Rough and rugged, all day long. Yum.
-
I just want a man to look like himself, natural, not all prim and artificial looking or smelling. I don't want dirt but I don't need anything other than neat, clean, and soap smelling. If he is a bit on the rough side, great.
-
Well if I've fallen for him what does it matter? I always tend to fall for personalities and then become more attracted to them physically after that... It's just how it works for me so really I could fall for either of.
-
i bet the ladies prefer a rugged metro sexual
-
both
-
i don't want my man to be more of a girl than me. a good combo of rugged but clean, sensitive but powerful enough to feel protected by
-
Rrrrrrrrrough and rrrrrrrrugged... RAWR!!!!
-
How about clean & rugged! I like a man that is well groomed, but too much suggests that he is a self-absorbed wimp. Masculinity is important - don't try to erase it!
-
Deffinately a masculine man, but I can't stand chin stubble. So shaven or full beard, but rugged strong and rough. Manicures and highlights are right out!
-
Rough and rugged but cleans up well.
-
It looks like I have to jump in here to protect the metros because clearly you ladies are mistaken. It sounds like you ladies have one of the following opinions on this topic: 1) Metro men make you think he'll cheat on you (because they're usually smoother with women--and better in bed--this is true). 2) Metro men are vain egotists so he won't pay any attention to me (when did being well-dressed = taking a long time to get ready?--not so) 3) Metro men won't be able to protect me because they're wussies (not true--look at most of the guys who go to the gym--that's right, metros). So, I think a lot of you (except for the smarter ones) are just plain insecure about themselves and prefer to have the upper hand in the relationship by dating a spoiled, beer-swilling, mysogynistic, washed-up athlete who you think you can magically change through the power of your love rather than someone better. As long as you look better in comparison. How sad. Well, I wouldn't want to date a girl like you anyway. Why don't you try not stereotyping guys into these little boxes. Rugged or metro?? What a joke. Neither term fully describes me. Oh and have some self-respect to not date a loser. Almost none of you girls said a word about 'intelligence', like that's a quality you even care about. What makes a real man is his mind, not his body.
-
This question is too general. Rugged like Johnny Depp and a groomed metrosexual like Brad Pitt? Now that would be a dilemma!
-
Manly man-yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeow!
-
oh new word for me, what is a metrosexual?
-
Honestly, I like a man who looks a bit rough and rugged. They seem like strong tough men that you could lean on...Metrosexuals look nice, but I would be worried about them being stuck on themselves or worse, judging my appearance...
-
R & R baby, as long as he washes his hands.
-
I like my man rough around the edges. Sometimes he gets a little carried away with it but as long as it's under control it's definitely my preference. Who wants to date a guy that takes longer to get ready than you do??
-
Right in between, i wouldnt date a guy that liked shopping or got his hair done more than me...clean but not too worried about his apperence..
-
Oooooh I love a bit of stubble, grr.
-
I prefer a man that is well groomed. It tells alot about that person. And they usually are very cute, sexy and handsome,in their beautiful attire. They have the most beautiful hair and eyes, and they can be very good in bed. they usually wear the most sexy cologne ever. I love it the most when my husband wears his BIRTHDAY SUIT..... with only a tie around his neck.... Try it ladies you will love the METROSEXUAL MAN.
