There is an ugly possiability that you have managed to seriously damage your engine. Briggs and Strattons are kinda tough though.
On inspection, do you see any oil leaks or holes? Holes are a bad sign.
Will the shaft rotate freely, with effort, or not at all?
If you cord pulls but there is no resistance, it could be a starter problem, not a motor problem.
My hubby says it sound like you may have some carpet remnant still wrapped around the cutting blade shaft. If that is not the case try turning the cutting blade a few times to see if the motor may be seized. The motor will be seized if you are unable to turn the blade. Good luck!!

You're reading Hello, Well i've just cut the grass and kind of ran over a piece of carpet that was there. Well now my mower won't start up at all. Oh yeah i've already removed the carpet. Any ideas? I have a Briggs Stratton 6.5 HP 21" rear discharge

A big torgue spike like that can partially shear the little aluminum pin that keys the flywheel to the crankshft. That will ruin the timing and you will not get a spark. Even partially sheared will ruin the spark. Very cheap to fix.
