It depends on the variety of fish you are keeping. There is a range of temps for tropical fish between 76 and 80 degrees. You need to see what the ideal temp is for your particular fish. Some fish are more affected by temperature extremes than others.

It depends on the type of fish. Usually the range is 75 to 82 degrees. Some like to keep Discus at the high end of temperature - I've heard as high as 85, but I keep my Discus at 83.
