  • If you want to keep your roses blooming all summer long you need to cut the dead buds off as they die that way your rose bush can put all of its energy into the living roses and new buds. Always cut the dead blooms off the bush
  • You should dead-head the flowers when they die. Cut just above the first five-leaf stem below the flower. After the first frost, when the plant is dormant, you can prune it to your hearts' content, to tame it and get it to do what you want it to do.
