  • I used to be an Australian soldier so if the pay is anything like ours was. Hell NO!!
  • No. Our soldiers are rather pitifully compensated, at least in terms of money. From what the reporters have told us, their benefits are pretty bad, too...especially if you need care at Walter Reed for a combat injury. It's shameful.
  • No not at all , I was married to a navy guy and he wasn't paid hardly anything + 5
  • Well, considering the disproportionate number of friendly fire incidents... I think US soldiers (for the rest of the world's sake) need more money invested in their training regimes. This would mean less money for the Pentagon to fund projects to invent nuclear toasters that can blow up Persia from outer space, so naturally it'll never happen.
  • No, we do not. In fact most of us think the level of compensation is a joke for someone who is willing to give their life for their country.
  • Not even close. There's a lot of things I would change if I could. I'm a mail carrier, and I remember one week there was a few sports stars that signed contracts for millions of bucks... one was like 4 million a year, so there's all these headlines and radio snippets about that while I'm delivering food stamps to a cop and two teachers. The U.S. absolutely does NOT have their priorities straight.
  • NO and even if they did it would never be enough...makes me sick watching footballers get sick amounts of money for spitting and booting a ball around.......not exactly in any danger are they!! but soldiers are in continuous danger and do a great service :)
  • Nope, not at all. My Fiance is in the Military and constantly says he doesn't get paid enough to do the stuff he does. I think it sucks, they should be paid alot more, especially since they put their lives on the line.
  • Not even close. My brother- and sister-in-law are both in the US military (Air Force and Marines, respectively). Both have served in Iraq and my sister-in-law is in Afghanistan right now. They come home with a tax-free check, but for 9 months in Iraq, risking their lives and getting bombed/mortared daily, my sister-in-law came home with $17k and her brother with about $11k. It's sickening and outrageous that these people get paid such a pittance for what they're doing.
  • They get paid the amount that was offered to them when they decided to go to a recruitment center and join the military. I don't know how much they get paid, but do know it is the exact amount that was told to them it would be. I also do know that, just like any other job, the longer you are in and the more experienced you get and the higher your rank becomes, you do get paid more. Generals get paid way more than privates, and that's the way it should be. If they didn't like the offer made to them, then they had the option not to join and find employment/a career elsewhere.
