I see it more as information management. I use it to find out what users I am interested in are asking. I also use it to easily find their profiles when I want to look through them.
-
I use it for both.
-
For me it's both and I love having my friends list , it for me is a way to get to know them better , I love having it + up
-
I always thought friends were people you shared common interests with; so its both!!!!!!!!!!
-
I love having a friends list,I love finding out what people are like.It makes me feel good that there is people out there that can help me with a problem and know that if i need to talk to anyone they will be there.
-
I consider my friends to be supportive of me in what I may say or do. To be there for me, as I would be there for them, such as if they are hurt, upset, etc.... Friends are there for each other no matter what. They aren't there for just getting answers from, etc... They are people who care and love you as who you are, and visa versa. Friends are not someone for whom you take for granted.
-
For me it's more about keeping up with friends. There are certain users whose questions and answers always interest or touch me so I like to see what they are up to. I also like and enjoy them as people. I use the "watch list" to track categories and information that interests me.
-
I think it's sort of a middle ground. It's about keeping up with the quetions and answers from people whose submissions I like reading, but I see that as a friendship of sorts. A friend is someone with whom you enjoy interacting and conversing with, and I see this as the AB equivalent. So I would not accept a friend request from somebody whose answers regularly offended me, just as I would not accept an invitation to go play racquetball with such a person.
-
I use it for both. Some of the people on my list are my friends, some are just people that request me. The information is also a big part. I love seeing the questions of my friends. The list is good for both things.
-
I would have to say that it is a little of both. For me it is like picking up a newspaper and reading certain sections first. I might scan the headlines or see an item of interest in the local or international sections, but I will always read the entire editorial/opinion pages. Some people on this site just have sound, logical answers and ask excellent, thought provoking questions. You happen to be one of them.

My friends list is empty and I like to keep it that way! :)
-
I personally have found it to be very helpful and time-saving...when someone asks to be approved as a friend, it means to me that he/she is interested in keeping track of what I have to say..which I find extremely flattering. I approve everyone because that's the only way I can meet new people. Then I click on to the "friends Q&A" button and quickly can find out what they are up to so I can answer/comment upon things with which they are involved. It saves so much time. I have found it to be an invaluable tool in more efficient AB participation, and as a result I have a wealth of "friends" to connect with, reach out to, and "play" with! :)
-
I think it's both. I accept friends if they seem to have some of the same interests and if I may want to keep track of interesting questions and answers they may have. It's a time-saver to find people I like and am concerned about. It helps me get to know them better. It great for seeing in a n instant who has changed their avatar, too:-)
-
i wiped my friends list empty yesterday.... it seemed rather pointless to me.... i spent too much time tracking other folks and less time focusing on q and a
-
Friendship! although i dont always track them, i only accept those i truly do like interacting with and enjoy their contributions, i very rarely invite answerbaggers as i feel some may feel they should accept rather than not....but yes definately friendship :)
-
AB friends. I don't use it to track or manage.
-
I only have one on my list. I only get about 20 minutes per day to AB lately, so I haven't used that precious little time to build a Friend's list. (I was very honored by the request from the one I do have, thank you!) Anyway - Having explained my time difficulties, I will tell you that my answer is BOTH friend and management. With less than 1/2 hour per day to spend, I am able to see that my friend has participated recently (at a glance). I value my friend's opinions and experiences, and I get a tool to manage how fast I get to see them.
-
I like to involve myself with the postings of people with whom I share attitudes and opinions, I'm not sure friends is the right term. It's good to easily locate the Q and As of like minded individuals. I like a lot of your questions but find your profile statement quite intimidating and therefore, despite wanting to, have not requested your "friendship"
-
I really don't care either way to be honest. I just want to learn more about other people- thats it.
-
I consider it to be a token of my affection for all of the wonderful Answerbaggers here. I invite everybody I cross paths with to be my friend. A few brave souls accept.
-
Well, with you, it's friendship all the way. I missed you.
-
A bit of both:)
-
It's more about virtual friendship to me.
-
I have always thought of it as a friendship and people that I share common interests and thoughts with. Also learn new thoughts about things that I might have looked at differently.
