For me that would be Fear of the change , itself + up

Cause sometimes its so hard to embrace the changed and the past is something you already know thats why it seems like its more safe.
-
Because it's familiar. You don't have to worry about any nasty surprises.

I disagree! The past can do nothing for you in the present. Maybe it could be 'helpful' for a learning experience, but that's IT. It does no good to dwell, live in, or take refuge in what's gone, and only a picture in your mind. Move onward and upward, that's way life is supposed to be lived.

I think as we get older it gets more and more difficult to accept and understand changes. I know with my Mum she reminisces alot about her youth because life for her wasn't so complicated back then. She doesn't feel safe and often complains she doesn't like the world today.

Good question Carm. I believe living life is about the present and the future and not about living in the past. This involves managing transitions utilizing healthy actions and support systems (i.e. for this I use chanting and my Buddhist support network in good times, bad and transitions). :)

I'm not a big fan of change...I like routines, knowing what I can count on, being able to know in advance what is predictable..."if I do this, then the likely outcome is that". What one knows is less frightening, of course. The unknown gets very scary...:( I sometimes think that keeping some of what has worked in the past is a good thing to do..newer isn't always better..nor is bigger, or louder, or fancier, or flashier. :)
