  • No, but I have a friend who was caught. He ended up paying 3.5k to the RIAA, and settled out of court. However that was in the napster days, these days courts are much friendlier to file sharers as judges and juries have people who download in their own families, I would say that you have a good chance of winning a court case if you had the money to pay for it.
  • Back when Napster was still free, right before they shut it down the first time. I did get an e-mail stating that my account name was on a list that had been identified as having illegally shared copy written music in my account. And I may held liable for copy write infringement. Right after that Napster was shut down and I never heard anything again. And if your interested, it was a Metallica song that was identified. Thanks Lars!
