Yes, though even I think it a bit pompous. I tend to use it as an interjection to change the subject slightly (interrupting a discussion about restaurants "Apropos food, when is supper?") or greatly ("Apropos nothing, when is supper?").

yeah, i use it every now and then... it's one of those highfalutin expressions i learned from my mother
