I agree with killdrphil. It's pathetic. Pretty soon a bunch of users will decide to take a poll (for points and ego-stroking) and we'll have pages full of these types of questions. That's certainly not the type of stuff I want to see. Frankly, I think *this* question is nonsense, also. If we start asking questions about reactions to other questions, this board will be nothing but a load of garbage questions.

I don't think that question is any more nonsensical than many, many other questions that show up on AB and receive a lot of points, no. At least he was sincere in wanting to find out if people thought his contributions to AB were helpful.

If that one is nonsense then so are the other thousands that ask 'will you miss when I'm gone?' 'I'm logging off for the weekend and have no pc at home. who will miss me?' 'Who misses xxxxxxx? I haven't noticed them on this week?' I don't think this user should be treated any differently.

The best part of answerbag, is if you don't like a question, you don't have to answer it. I fully understand that when I have a problem with something like this, its MY problem. Making rules against things that bug you, enforces a PERSONAL belief upon others that may not believe the same. If I made the rules, I would ban cell phones.

No, it's perfectly easy to understand. However I think questions of this nature should be rejected as they seem to be designed to generate a bit of back slapping, complimenting and doesn't really add to the quality of the bag. There is a comment feature there to communicate with users regarding their contributions. We're here to learn and help one another and this only really helps the asker by stroking their ego. I think 'congratulate' questions are different as they're generally asked by other baggers about a user rather than the user asking themselves.

I don't think it is nonsense. It seems to me that someone (for whatever reason) may be thinking of leaving AB and is notifying his/her friends in advance to see what kind of response is received. It doesn't bother me at all..I just don't answer them because so far no one that I "know" has ever asked that question.

We all have our own values and such, and sometimes, we don't recognize the questions. It's nice to know when one would be gone for that to be missed. I don't see any problems with these questions. It doesn't bother me at all. However, questions like these will be marked as nonsense from now if someone flags the question. (No not this questions specificly.)
