yea i do, there are ways that you can block people from seeing your profile on myspace and on facebook no one can see it anyways unless you want them too

If you can properly moitor your child's use of these sites and limit time spent, then yes, I think it's fine. If the teen is in a private area of the house, you can't see thier account activity etc, then I think you should re-consider time spent alone in the comp.

I think that Myspace and Facebook are FINE for teens. I don't understand why it wouldn't be. I don't know, I could be blind to what could potentially happen.

I thought these sites WERE for teens.

Sure. Facebook more so than Myspace, where people have a good deal more opportunity to be stalked. With Facebook, you have to allow people to see your information, and if you explain the danger to your teen, they'll just let their friends in, and not people they don't know, and they'll be fine. With Myspace you can set that option too (which I always recommend to people) but the default is to just be friends with everyone, and it's a lot easier for a predator to find your information and use it to find you. Either way, so long as you are confident in your teen, you should trust them to be smart and make good decisions. Just keep in touch with them on it once in a while - or get on there yourself and be their friend. I have my mom in my friends list.

I think myspace & facebook are great for teens; in fact I feel they're more appropriate for teens than older people... sorry.
-
Have you been on myspace? I find it disturbing. I don't know about facebook. I don't think it is appropriate for early teens.
-
Yes they are fine. Both sites have ample privacy features which make it much harder for predators to find out anything.

I think MySpace and FaceBook are pretty safe; It's just that teens tend to talk to anyone and everyone and they trust everyone once they get to "know" them, and start giving out info and crap and yeah. Personally, I think blogs are boring.

I think it is okey for chatting with people they know in real life, such as school friends, relatives and what not. I think depending on the child making internet friends needs to be monitored. Even I have been almost trick or tempted to give too much information on this site but maybe I'm a little paranoid. I guess someone can find out your personal information if they are determined enough regardless of your precautions.

I think Myspace and Facebook are fine, as long as the teenager doesnt talk to someone they don't know.
