It really doesn't require much for an user to become an expert in a category. To take over command as an expert from someone else, of course you will need more points and answers for sure. To become an expert whereas no other user has claimed expert, the user must have at least answered 5 questions, with a total of a minimum of 25 points. You must wait until the next day so that the points can process and therefore, you become the expert the next day. Of course, with a score like that, someone else may take over real quick. =)
