  • I think it's by all means a good thing. Keeps the balance of power intact. ;)
  • I knew a guy who called in sick so he could go to a baseball game. His boss was watching the game on TV and - busted!
  • As long as you don't do it more than a few times a year, I guess it's OK. I don't take sick days because my managers over the years hold that against you when it job review time.
  • Sure, It's called a "Mental Health" day.
  • I've actually called in a "too fed-up" and a "too pissed off" day. Twice. I have a very understanding boss I guess ; )
  • I think it's not really nice for people to be dishonest. To risk their job and their employers belief in them as an honest and fair employee is not gonna help them feel good about them self - so they'd probably have a crap day anyway!!
  • "Chuck a Sickie?" I like that! I've always called them "Mental Health" days or "Calling in Stressed" I don't think it's bad. If you've got a job that gives you paid sick days, my philosophy is they are there to be used. You don't gain anything by wasting them!
  • I thought that was the great American tradition lol I have done it myself sometimes you just need a break especially oin a day when the weather is absolutely beautiful
  • Is it hell! Its good for you, as long as you observe the rules
  • To "chuck a sickie" can be quite beneficial to the company in turns of moral and productivity. However it needs to be coordinated with trustworthy mates i.e. one person says "I am tired of this crap I'm takin a sickie 2mora" and another says "it's my girlfriends birthday tommorow I'm takin a sickie" the person that is tired of this crap will generally wait for a day or two then take a sickie and allow his m8 (mate) to spend a day with his girlie. This is what I call "chuck a sickie etiquette"
