Never happened to me but here is my guess..you take drugs, your brain "explodes" and you "see" weird, scary and illogical pictures..you experience unnatural and abnormal things..the worst part is...once you do drugs, what is the long-term effect on the brain? There are such things as "flashbacks" which occur long after the drug is out of the system..how much are you willing to gamble that you will be o.k.?

It is when your mind goes into dreamstate while you are awake. I have only heard it happening while on drugs.

i think it is possibly a vision,depending on what you see, good or bad? demons or angels?
