Because our jails are overcrowded with low level drug dealers, so much so that we are letting more violent criminals off earlier. If were not 'winning' something for these terrible decisions, how would that look?

I agree with Wickets, it's all propaganda, in case you haven't noticed this country is always declaring war on something, it's a marketing slogan devised to incapacitate your brains common sense receptors. The so called "war on drugs" is a selling point to make the American sheeple believe that the government is actually making progress in the illicit drug trade. I will note that this "drug war" has been going on for decades and is probably the longest declared war this country has ever been involved in within it's brief history and is not likely ever to end... ever. There is just to much money and to much corruption involved, and ya'll know how much politicians love money and corruption!

Pro-positive drug stories I have submitted to the mainstream media were all rejected. One publisher took the time to contact me personally to tell me that my work was far better than any he could remember, but he requested that I agree to modifications that would have changed the story entirely. When I did not comply he said that he could not print a story that began with "Drug use is not a crime, a disease, or disorder... Using drugs is normal human behavior..." because he feared that advertisers would pull out and the feds would move in to censor him. We forget that censorship is reality in the 21st century. We don't have freedom of the press... especially after 9/11...
