Here is information I found reguarding the red, silver or cross fox. The size and color of this fox vary considerably according to the climate in which they live. The head and body are reddish, and the underside gray and white; there are whitish markings on the throat and chest as well. The tail, which is 14 to 16 inches long, is black with a white tip. The length of the head and body is 24 to 36 inches, and the weight is four to fifteen pounds. http://www.americazoo.com/goto/index/mammals/248.htm

Depends on the type of fox. They can range from medium cat size to medium dog size. Smallest I've seen was a Red Fox, just over a foot long. Largest was some kind of fox that I couldn't identify that was about two and a half feet long, it was mostly grey with black trim.
