If I gain a Law degree in England, what steps would I need to take to be allowed to then practise it in the USA or New Zealand?

Laws vary world wide ... sorry to say, but you would have to start all over and study law again, and get another law degree, this time in the new country of your choice. ... possibly, under the heading of corporate law, you might be able to practise your English law degree by working for an international company with an office in your new country of choice ...

Since the law in the U.S. is common law mostly and the law in NZ is still influenced a lot by English law, I dont think it would take you too long. Many of the general concepts from England are the same or at least very similar.
