I have to tell this real situation case. This male had a fetish for cellphones. he would break into automobiles, just to steal one. we knew his physical description and were looking for him, no warrants outstanding. We heard a car alarm go off and sure enough, another car burglary. only the mans cellphone taken. the owner was close and a suspect had been stopped three blocks away. no evidence to arrest this person, yet. We knew suspect had this man phone, but legally could not search him for it, due to lack of probable cause. i then asked the car owner to call his cellphone. he borrowed mine. Sure enough, in less than a minute, the suspects jeans started to vibrate and play the song Dixie. suspect had the victims phone in his pocket, along with six other cellphones. He was arrested and charged with numerous car burglaries. In order to catch a thief, you have to outsmart a thief. Some are very stupid.
