Both excellent. Phoenix hardly looks like Cash, but his intense, controlled performance downplays that fact. Foxx WAS Charles. Amazing. Foxx wins this one for me, but not by much.

Jamie Foxx was a very realistic Ray Charles so I have to lean toward him here.

The both of them were amazing in their roles but I would have to go with Jamie Foxx playing Ray Charles.

Joaquin Phoenix as Johnny Cash. He doesn't look like him and he didn't wear shades the way Foxx did. Seems to me it would be easier to play someone if you are wearing shades. But, Foxx was still very good in the role.
