I am going to be getting a 5 month old Chihuahua! Do you know how long it takes for a puppy that age, to adjust to a new home and environment? Do they do well with adjusting? How can I make it less traumatic for him, and make the transition easiest?

Hi there. Thanks for the question :) Considering the Chihuahua would be five months old, he/she would be use to their current home. I can't put a time on how long it is going to take for the puppy to adjust, but if he has a patient and kind owner then that should help! Every chi will and would adjust differently to this situation, so just let him take it at his own pace. Firstly, try your best to introduce your puppy to the new home in the morning, so by night fall he has a little idea of his surroundings. Possiably have a blanket or toy that reminds him of his last household which should comfort him greatly. It might be smart to let him sleep in the crate/box you pick him up in for the first few nights for it will be a place he is familiar. And finally, try and follow the diet habbits his past owners have followed. Best of luck to you and your chi!
