  • Suboxone can be used to treat pain but it is primarily used to take people off of, (Detox) them from Methadone, heroin, and other powerfull drugs like Oxycontin. Any drug that is a step lower in the narcotics family can be used for pain control,

  • Some people use Suboxone for pain (off-label) and find it effective in smaller but more frequent doses. I know of some chronic pain sufferers that take 1mg Suboxone and supplement that with say 800mg Motrin and it works for them. But keep in mind everyone's body chemistry's and absorbtion rates are different so it would be difficult to say whether it would work for you or not.
  • I couldn't tell if it did anything for my knee pain. After an accident at work I had surgery on my right knee that only made it worse. My Dr said I needed total joint replacement. Since it is Workers Comp insurance I am still fighting to get it (almost 2 years). I was on vicodin then percocet for 14 months. The Dr said I was dependent, like it was MY FAULT.They put me on Suboxone up to 32mgs for last 5 months. It gave the worst headaches in my life. I just want off!! I am down to 4mgs now I find out it might be harder to get off of than anything. Plus it will block most of the pain meds after my knee is replaced. I would think long and hard before taking it. Do a lot of research BEFORE you decide.
