What worked for me was applying a product called RainX to the windshield. It is also great for seeing better.

There are a few things you can do which might help: 1. Clean your windshield with Windex (or similar). 2. Refill your wiper fluid. If you know how, empty your existing fluid. 3. Wipe your blades with a little WD40 (on a paper towel) helps. 4. Using a paper towel, rub dry baking soda on your windshield, then wash off. This removes residue. 5. Clean your windshield with Coca-Cola (yep, has been known to work). 6. Check whether your blades are too loose or too tight. 7. This may take some trial and error, but find a brand of blades that you like best and write down the brand for future use. 8. Never wax your windshields or use products like Bon-Ami.

The inexpensive and very effective way to clean a windscreen of even the most difficult of residue is to use inexpensive white toothpaste. Wash the screen with clean water to remove dust and dirt and gently apply white (not multicolour) toothpaste in a circular motion tothe wet screen with a clean cloth. Don't use a yellow duster or similarly dyed cloths. Toothpaste is a mild abrasive and care must be taken to keep the screen damp. Stay off rubber seals. This method will also hidepolish-out scratches on the hard glass of mobile phones and watches etc.

Thanks Big G... that does sound interesting. Anxious to give it a try. Possumpaw

I had the same problem because I only replaced the blade. I then replaced all three wipers with new BOSCH ones and they don't make any sound of any kind. They are available at Western Auto.

Stop going to cheap car washes. The wax sprayed on the windshield causes squeaking.

I have used a Coca-cola and a cheap Cigar, not at the same time, to clean the road scum and road oil off my windshields. Removing the scum seems to eliminate squeaking and allows the water to flow evenly so you can see out...
