Is it ironic that Judges get paid more, on average, than teachers in the USA?

Ummm,no. Judges are lawyers. Lawyers tend to be more educated than teachers (4 yrs then law school) and they generally have to have quite a bit of experience before they are appointed judges. But I think I get what you are trying to say: If we had better teachers we probably wouldn't need so many lawyers because there would be less criminals. I just don't know if the choice of judges works well.
