  • Mysticism is not of the Lord and is a false religion.
  • Mysticism is a rather broad term that applies to all things mystical and magical ... parts of it are within several religions, while others parts are not ... http://www.religiousworlds.com/mystic/index.html
  • Mysticism is being aware of the transcendent or ultimate reality or God. Mysticism is not a religion but is a feature of most religions including Catholicism. Some Catholic mystics are: Saint Teresa of Avila Saint John of the Cross Saint Therese of Lisieux With love in Christ.
  • There are Mystics in every religion. Kabbalah is a form of Jewish Mysticism. Sufism is a form of Islamic Mysticism. Rosicrucianism is a form of Christian Mysticism. In many ways, the modern "Born-again" movement in American Christianity can be seen as mysticism.
  • I tend to think of religions of lists of beliefs, doctrines, and practices, and rituals to various degrees. Mysticism isn't a certain set of defined beliefs, but the attempt to know God personally by stilling the thoughts and realizing your Oneness with All / God. One of my fave mystical quotes is the poem in my profile.
  • I would say it depends on what you mean by religion. If you mean a set of doctrine that minimizes the perception of one to not see anything good other then the doctrens of ones own religion then i would say no, its not. If by religion you mean a expirential reality of being that flows through from the source of all living things; a coming to understand that source, the mystery, as well as ones true self, as found in that mystery; if you mean, by religion, a conection to this great mystery in such a way that it not only enables but entails one to see the good in all things, wether it be people other religions ect, then yes id say a religion.
  • I tend to agree with a lot of the responses in that mysticism is a major part of the foundation of each religion. The goal of every religious devotee is to somehow transcend the boundary between the self and God.
  • I think so :)
  • I would admit my ignorance and decline from answering....
