  • I guess it's a good distraction for the people in the back seat. (Specially kids on long trips, for example) Any use of it on the front of the car should be recommended only when the car is not in motion. Although I suspect there are some morons out there that use them while driving.
  • Good idea if they're in the back seat for the kiddies in a long car ride, but watching a movie while driving - not wise. I text while driving and know that's bad enough, but you don't get as engaged in texting.
  • It certainly is distracting to the driver but great to watch while waiting in traffic or to keep the idiots in the back seat quiet.
  • I think they're dumb. You don't need a DVD player in you're car. I use long trips as a chance to actually talk to my kids without distraction. There's also manny more ways to entertain them then just have them zoned out in front of yet another TV screen. I definitly don't like them in the veiw of the driver. I've heard too many stories where someone was trying to watch a movie and drive at the same time. One guy was even watching a porn and was dumb enough not to think anyone else would be able to see what he was watching. Someone's kids did and he got nailed big time.
  • In many places it is ILLEGAL to have a DVD player in view of the driver's seat that can operate while the vehicle is in motion. That said, I don't think it really makes a difference. Between sitting with your eyes below the dash (homey/G-style), cell-phones, newspapers, passengers, applying make-up, and masturbation, I don't think DVD players add much to the distraction.
