Why doesn't Answerbag allow HTML markup in questions and answers?

I don't know why for sure why HTML is not supported here but I suspect they don't want to verify HTML is correct. Bad HTML can cause the page to display incorrectly or not at all. Several responses are stacked on a single page, which could cause topics following the error not to display. You might use features that are not supported by their supported web browsers. You might even be able to introduce a virus through their web site.

Okay guys, what do you find wrong about using mark-up (like <b><u><i><s>) on our answers? Why can't we emphasize our points? Perhaps you can allow a few mark-up tags at first (like the four most basic ones above) and others can request some more on the blog comment responses, and you can decide whether those requested mark-ups are appropriate to add to Answerbag's answering function. If Elvis lived long enough to use the Internet, "A typer without mark-up tags... is like a hound-dog without a bone!"
