I would choose a burger that I grill myself. =)

From ANY place? Any at all? My mother. She makes the best burgers. No kidding. :) Second pick is Five Guys, but that's only if fast food is a necessity in the answer. I rather hate fast food. :P

Where about do you live, I reside in Austin myself, I don't care much for Whataburger anymore, or anything fast food for that instance. If I have no choice but fast food I would choose a Whataburger before anything else. However if your in Austin I recommend you check out HUT's Hamburgers on W.6th and West, or better yet, Casino El Camino on 6th and Neches, these two joints sell the best gourmet burgers in Austin!

Never heard of those but would like to try. My wife makes great burgers... and when I order a cheeseburger from McDonalds I always order 8 of them... well, they are pretty small!

Fatburger in LA/Santa Monica/Hollywood. Juicy delicious burger. For a fast food burger in-n-out is the best.

RAFFERTY'S [MMMMMMMMM]

I like to make my own, and add lots of spoces to the raw meat before I make patties. I call it the Secret Spice Burger. If I'm going out I love Fuddrucker's. They have huge juicy burgers, with self serve condiment, cheese, and veggie bar.
-
I'd choose a cheeseburger, just so I could throw it at Donald Rumsfeld.
-
Putting aside those charcoal-broiled at home, and assuming you are talking about any place that is a chain I would say K-Bobs. They have great burgers at K-Bobs.
-
I would choose Backyard Burger. Just to let you know I live in Florida and we have Whataburger’s I think they are only located in the south. Kind of like White Castle up north and Carl Jr. out west and Hardees’s down south.
-
They have a Whataburger about 2 miles from my house in Largo, Fl. I'd get a whopper at Burger King cause it's alright.
-
I'm a vegetarian. By the way, I have never seen a Whataburger outside of Texas, either.
-
"The Carnivore" from Elk Valley BBQ (small family owned grill in Crescent City CA that has gone out of business since I lived there) 3 giant patties with bacon, cheese, and whatever else you want in between the layers (I add onion rings and BBQ sauce to make it a western) A truly evil sandwich
-
I would choose the black bean burger from Houston's restaurant. Yummy!!
-
I have to agree with you about Whataburger !! Man !! They are good !!! ;-) I live just N.Of Dallas and there is a really good Whataburger location not too far from me. No fast food burger even come close to what I can make on the grill, but, It's great for a fast food burger. When I'm in Vegas, I have to eat at least one In-N-Out burger while there. Those are SO VERY GOOD !!

I like the western bacon cheeseburger (or whatever its called) at Carl's Jr but I don't have a Carl's Jr around here, I've got crap Hardees which has some of the same menu items but not all.

I lived in Texas for twelve years before coming to Detroit on a work contract. While I was there, I ate a lot of Whataburgers, and they were OK but I preferred Sonic, for no reason I can put my finger on at the moment. In Detroit, oddly enough, the best chain burgers I have had are from Red Robin, and they far outstrip Sonic and Whataburger - no contest. Red Robin is a bit more upscale, however, and on a par with Fuddrucker's, which I ate occasionally when I lived in New Orleans. In final analysis, the best burger I ever had was from the Lemon Tree bar in Stamford, Connecticut, but that was 35 years ago. It would be good to know if they have maintained their quality, or even if they still exist, but I'm not going back to find out because there are a lot of burger places in Chicago I haven't tried yet. I'll get back to you when I have a chance to get around u phere because I have large confidence that the best burger is someplace around Chicago.

There used to be Whataburgers in Southern California, then they changed the name to Lotaburger.

Shoneys or Cracker Barrel
-
Either Sonic or Jack in the Box. Sometimes Burger King or Hardee's (Carl's Jr.).

The two best burgers ever are as fallows, Number 2 Big Al's Super-Burger In Jackson Mississippi 11 oz of yummyness. I was In Jackson on business for awhile it was the only thing that made it bearable. The Number 1 burger is at Matt's Bar in Minneapolis it is known as the "Juicy Lucy" the cheese is cooked into the middle and then it is seared on a flat top sealing in all the juice. The atmosphere at Matt's is kinda grim but ooh what a sandwich.

A veggie burger: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Veggie_burger And if they don't have any, a burgerless burger: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Burgerless_burger I can tell you there are also very nice people in Hamburg. Hamburgers ;-)

I could really go for a Double-Double from In 'n Out. There are no In 'n Out's in Washington!
-
In-N-Out Burger
-
Miller's in Dearborn, Michigan :) Burger, fries and a beer for under 10 bucks! (plus tip)

I've never seen a Whataburger outside Texas myself. I've had it exactly one time. Late at night on the road, somewhere between Mexia and Austin and I got my burger with jalapenos on it...I've never had something make my stomach ache like that before....It was FABULOUS! I still have a ring on my ass from the length of time on the toilet.

Whataburger is good, one of my favorites. http://www.whataburger.com/one_near_you.php
