  • MOst religions believe non-believers go to a type of hell, the definition of hell may or may not change between religions. Some believe in reioncarnation, the less you believe or live your beliefs, the lower in the chain you become. I haven't decided exactly what I believe in that area yet.
  • The Catholic Church teaches: About Judaism: "The Jewish faith, unlike other non-Christian religions, is already a response to God's revelation in the Old Covenant. To the Jews "belong the sonship, the glory, the covenants, the giving of the law, the worship, and the promises; to them belong the patriarchs, and of their race, according to the flesh, is the Christ"; "for the gifts and the call of God are irrevocable. About Islam: The plan of salvation also includes those who acknowledge the Creator, in the first place amongst whom are the Muslims; these profess to hold the faith of Abraham, and together with us they adore the one, merciful God, mankind's judge on the last day. About other non-Christian religions: All nations form but one community. This is so because all stem from the one stock which God created to people the entire earth, and also because all share a common destiny, namely God. His providence, evident goodness, and saving designs extend to all against the day when the elect are gathered together in the holy city. • I was raised baptist, and many similar 'Christian' religions agree that if you accept that Jesus Christ died for your sins and you want to accept His gift of His death for you to have life, you will go to heaven and that it is the only way to get there. I no longer belive these teachings and go in for more pagan beliefs after much soul and re - searching.
  • I answered the comment but it may have been too long (I do that sometimes). >isn't the implication of "if you accept Jesus Christ died for your sins and you want to accept His gift of His death for you to have life, you will go to heaven and that it is the ONLY WAY (emphasis added) to get there" ... no matter how kind or good or how much they give to charity and perform acts of self-sacrifice, will NOT go to Heaven, but the, well... other place? that is exactly true, and other people were greatly put down for trying to get to heaven by the good works method, which was preached weekly that you couldn't get to heaven that way, you had to, and the list gets longer the more you listen, accept Jesus into your heart, live your life how God would approve (refer to the 10 commandments plus whatever Paul preached, plus what Jesus preached...), give money to the church, tell everyone about your beliefs and try to convince them to join the other side. And you had to get baptized. It turns out the rules were made up by the church in midevil times to get people to become standardized in living, which has been mostly accomplished. With new standards being developed every day for the new technologies, etc that are being developed.
  • Well the answer to the question should come directly from the source. (Founder of the religions) What I mean is that since the Bible was written over many years by varied writers believed to be divinely inspired and certain portions are attributed to be the words of Abraham, Moses and Jesus for example, then a direct quote from any of them should suffice as an answer. So for example if Moses said only my poeple the Jews will go to heaven or If Jesus said Only Christians will go to heaven and all others will go to hell then that can be considered the undenyable view of the two religions but the view seems to vary depending on the sect or denomination. The muslim view in short is that GOD will make Judgement on all of his servents but his mercy is greater than his wrath. Of course the view of polytheism is not good within Islamic thinking and the concept of trinitarianism is rejected while Unitarianism is viewed as authentic.
  • In Hebrews 1 and Romans 1, the writers spell out the various ways that God has revealed Himself. 1) a general revelation through nature 2)a more specific revelation through Moses and the Prophets 3) the final revelation through Jesus. Salvation (ultimately, going to heaven) is through faith in Jesus' death. However, those who lived in times and places where this revelation was not known will be judged under the revelation they had and their reaction to it. That this is true has often been witnessed in societies where the Gospel has been preached for the first time. Almost always someone will come forward and say "I always knew Him, but I did not know His name". They were reacting to the basic revelation. Secondly, there are many cases in the OT and the NT where people from surrounding nations abandoned their gods and followed the God of Israel (eg Eliezer, Abraham's servant, Moses' Cushite wife, Rahab, Ruth, Naaman etc) Therefore, according to CHristian teaching, there will be many in heaven who responded to one of the first two revelations in faith, and who will learn about the third when they arrive in heaven (Since heaven is a place of learning and interaction). That does not take away from the person of Jesus and His mission. His death paid for the sin of the world, past, present and future. ALl those who accepted the revelation available to them in faith, will be with the Lord. But not all. There will be those who reject it. And not just non-Christians. Just because you were born into a family where Christianity was taught does not get you a free ticket to paradise. Faith in Jesus, too, is needed. In fact, you have the most information, and the greatest opportunity, so, if you reject, you have the saddest eternity, a time of reflection upon what you could have had, but said no to. God alone knows who will be in Heaven. But He has told His followers to preach the good news to everyone, so that is what I do. I cannot assume that anyone will be there, or that anyone will not. My job is not to judge but to preach.
  • I myself was raised without religion influancing my life, but have now taken up the Religion of Wicca, a type of Neo-paganist. i had already believed in karma and reincarnation for some time so it just felt right.. there is no heaven and hell when you die, you are just reincarnated into another life form with the same spirit. you have no memories of your past self, but you keep the same spirit which lives on through whatever happens to you. That is what i believe happens when you die
  • The Islamic view: The Qur'an states that Jews, Christians, and Sabeans will have a place in heaven after having paid for their sins in hell, just like Muslims. There are 7 levels of heaven, and they will most probably be at the bottom, for not having believed in the Qur'an. The word 'Muslim' means 'submitter(to Allah)'. As Muslims believe that the Torah, Psalms, Injil(Bible), were all Divine revelation, those who followed them are 'People of the Book' and hence, Muslims. This does not apply to modern day Christians who believe that Jesus(pbuh) is God, or the Jews who had polytheistic tendencies in early times however. Islam is about strict and pure monotheism.
