In America, the Salvation Army operates "thrift" stores...people give stuff to the Salvation Army..the Salvation Army places a price on it...usually a very very good price...others come in and buy..everything is profit because the Salvation Army pays for nothing..the people who give their items to the SA can use that gift as a tax writeoff...the people who purchase things there get really good deals. It's one of those rare "everybody wins" situations. I have a few items I've purchased at our local Salvation Army. I highly recommend others to sample their wares. :)
