I started learning it at... 9 or 10 I believe
-
Started at 10 with Pre-al in the 6th grade. Real algebra was 8th grade. I was 12.
-
11 (7th grade).

I think that I was 11 or 12, as I was definitely at senior school. My 10 year old in 4th grade started some basic stuff.
-
About Nine I believe.
-
I didn't. It was taught when I was in middle school at about age 7 but it never sunk in.
-
When I was ten I think, but my knowledge of algebra has always been poor, and I'm sure that many young children are better at it than me.
-
I was taught algebra at twelve, but I already had some idea of how it worked due to reading "The Trachtenberg Speed System of Mathematics" which used some easy algebra in an appendix to explain how it all worked.
-
I was 11 when I started 7th grade math, including intro to algebra, though I think I was already aware of exponentiation a little earlier. Before that 'math' had meant the drudgery of long division & such. Once my eyes were opened to symbolic notation, I was totally hooked on math for the next decade of my life!

I was 13, I think.

Started at 10
