  • Only if you are retired.
  • I think it is ok to wear that,I have been to funerals that have people wearing that. It is very nice to be wearing something that would have pleased your grandfather.to show you care.
  • Hi TennMan, Actually... it depends. Take a look at AFI 36-2903 which outlines how, when and where you can wear all types of military uniforms. If you served in any war campaign (i.e. OIF, OEF or desert strom) you can wear your blues "at military funerals, memorial services, and inaugurals" (pg. 153). If you did not serve in any war campaign and you seperated rather than retired, you are only aloud to wear your blues "from place of discharge to home, within 3 months after discharge" (pg 154). Hopefully this helps :)
  • This is one of those times I would toss the AFIs or ARs out the window. If you are a veteran and your grandfather was a veteran and you think that he would have approved (or better yet, done it himself if positions were reversed), go for it. I doubt the USAF is going to send SF's after you for honoring your grandfather.
  • Laws & military regulations vary world wide. In Canada, no one would bother to charge you with the offense under those conditions and they would graciously allow it, no questions asked, but you are not actually supposed to wear the uniform once you are out ... they call it "impersonating a military officer".
  • WEAR IT!
  • Unless you are a Veteran, you're not honoring a man who paid his dues and earned the rites of passage as a Veteran. You're doing what you want to feel good for you. It's not about you but your Grandpa who honorably served his tenure.
  • personally, i was never big on regulations while i was in so i probably shouldn't be answering, but i see no reason you shouldn't wear your uniform to his funeral. and if somebody says otherwise they're being rather cold hearted in my opinion. so, by all means, wear it ;) show gramps how proud you are of him, his service and yours!
  • I know the Air Force reg are a little different. But, if you served your country during a time of war regardless if your a combat veteran or not you are entitled to wear the uniform. Make sure when you wear it, the uniform is properly fitted and looks sharp.
  • I say go for it man, you can only have one real funeral
