  • In short, yes, you can, but I don't know anyone who does. -JT
  • Yes, you can. Most of the fibre in a kiwi fruit is located in the skin. It is quite edible, even if it doesn't taste like much and is slightly fuzzy. In my opinion, it far better than asparagus.
  • Kiwi fruit "skin" is high in phenolic compounds, such as flavanoids, which have antioxidant properties. Flavanoids, as in kiwi "skin", have potential anticancer, antiinflammatory and antiallergenic properties. BTW - The kiwi is also called "actinidia deliciosa" or "Chinese gooseberry". It’s originally from China, but is also widely cultivated in New Zealand. In fact, it’s New Zealanders who named the fruit "kiwi" after the national emblem of the country, a tail-less bird with a long beak. Edit - Yes, the skin of kiwi fruit is edible.
  • Yes you can. It dosen't taste that good though. Too furry!
  • It is tart and wonderful.....try it!
  • I do. It probably contains many vitamins as well, as most veg/fruit skins do. And yes it is eatable.
  • Yeah, sure you can. I haven't eaten a Kiwi fruit in awhile, but I used to just wash them and cut them in half and eat 'em. The fuzz never bothered me, and although I'm not familiar with the health benefits of the rind (although I'm sure there are some), they always tasted just as good to me as when they were peeled. If the question asked specific health benefits or risks, then I wouldn't be qualified to answer. Since no such specifics were asked, my answer was perfectly correct.
  • yes we can
  • Yes. I just wash it as I would any other fruit and eat it same as I would an apple or a pear.
  • I always have. I didn't know people didn't eat the skin...lol I love kiwi!
  • Very much so. It almost triples the fiber content of this fruit. Just wash it well and ignore the fuzz. It also helps in keeping the fruit slices together. They don't fall apart like they do when you use them in salads and such.
  • I do. Sometimes, I'll partially skin it (as I do a cucumber or potato) so I still get the benefits of the skin, but don't have to be overwhelmed with skin (furry or otherwise). Leaving some of the skin on (peeling in stripes around the kiwi) gives a sweet/tart experience since the fruit is sweet and the skin is just a bit tangy or tart. If you wash it first, the fur on the skin will lie down and it won't seem so "furry".
  • It's edible but a little too fuzzy for me.
  • Actually I like the skin best - I think it's the fuzzy texture which is most appealing! Am I weird?
  • A lot of people eat the skin of the kiwi, I have tried it and found that tastes quite good. It adds a little tartness to the fruit.
  • yep :) I eat the whole kiwi, it's really good :)
  • The skin is just the best. i cud eat just the skin
  • I did'nt realize you could until a few days ago when I read it online. I've tried it and I like it. They were always so hard to peel any how.
  • Yeah! The skin is tart. I always eat it.
  • YES, I prefer it this way. I call it natures Bubble Tea Fruit because it gives you something tangy to chew on. Also its a GREAT source of fiber and good for your digestive system. Bon appetite !
  • i don't eat kiwi cause it burns my tongue (i'm slightly allergic to it)...but when i did eat it, i never used to eat the skin
  • No... thats nasty!!!
  • eeeeeeeeeeeeeeewwww no
  • Are you kidding me?! People eat the middle?!! I've only ever eaten the skin!! That green stuff is dangerous, like nuclear or something!
  • yes I eat Kiwi fruit skins for its health attributes...I know the kiwi fruit has high vitamin C in it ...so why not use its skin to provide fibers to body ..
  • Yes, but I always wash them first. I don't eat the hard end though.
  • mmmm....yes...the skin is a little bitter which makes the sweet of the kiwi taste better:)
