an arcane staff... second, a wand. I'm not into combat - I want to blow 'em away from a distance!

A mace and a whip. And a sword of course.
-
quarterstaff or swordstaff

Just because I COULD go back to medieval times, does not mean that I would. I would be too busy burning at a stake to really use a weapon. I prefer a bo, though (a staff, not a archer type bow).

A pair of pliers and a blowtorch? Then I'll get medieval on someone's ass. Actually, I like the long baseball bat thing with big spikes on it. Whatever that is called.

Bastard broadsword (that is a "hand and a half" broadsword) in one hand, a shortsword or long dagger in the other. I have fought with both IRL for fun. I was not in the SCA but knew many who were and, courtesy of my martial arts training and weightlifting, I had a good start in agility, strength, and reflexes. Playing with my friends increased this. Of course, the blades we played with were blunt. I had my ass kicked more often than not because the SCA fighters fight in full armour, or at least partial armour (no they did not have fancy stuff... it was all cobbled together), and full power. I did not do that but we did have some serious fun and I came to be decent at it. If I was in medieval times I would also not fight in full armour. I would fight in heavy leather with rivets and plates. I have had the chance to try on the full armour used by the SCA members and just could not stand it. What I describe is much more tolerable. I had the pleasure of exploring the various weaponry used by the SCA as well. I enjoyed the quarterstaff, but then, I was trained in the short staff in the martial arts and had a good head start, even on some of the SCA fighters. I tried the Glaive but I was not as good at it as I was with the short staff. I have also tried a bastard and a shield and I found a shield cumbersome. I liked the shortsword or long dagger instead. I could fight with it and use it to block. I can tell you that your hands, forearms, biceps, shoulders, and pecs become fatigued very quickly. You develop quite the grip from this sort of entertainment. I already had it before I started playing around, from the weightlifting (always did free weights). I usually taped my right forearm (I handled the bastard right handed) to support it. My SCA friends would not let me play without strict insistence on my keeping my feet on the ground... NO KICKING!! Dagnabit.

The longsword, since I've been studying its use in the German tradition (founded by Johannes Liechtenauer in the mid 1300's) for the past three years.
-
The longbow would be my weapon of choice, plus a good sectional staff for close-in fighting.
-
Halberd. Staff, hammer, pike and axe all rolled into one.
