  • In my state this is how it is: You either have to pass a knowledge test (which you can pass pretty easily by reading the DMV's booklet) or be enrolled in a drivers ed class to qualify for a Learners permit.
  • ... laws vary world wide so it depends on what part of the planet you are at ... ... here in the province of Quebec, they are trying to change the laws so that driving courses are mandatory prior to all permits, even learner permits ... but currently you just need an appointment, enough money, and you take & pass the test ... actual training is still an option that is not required for any permit ...
