I think it is worth renewing to populous Europe as a more benevolent religion than Christianity. Wiccans seek eight virtues: Merriment, respect, honour, humility, strength, beauty, power and compasion. Are these not good things to aspire to have? Wiccans 'advise' the Golden Rule: If it harms none, do as you will. Wiccans also teach that for every action you do it will be paid back three times as good (or bad if you did an act that harms or contradicts the virtues). Wiccans are essentailly benevolent and never teach that harm is acceptable without consequences, yet ALL religions based upon the rules set by a devine, at some point, say that 'killing an infidel is not murder, it is the path to heaven'! Christinity is in no way linked with Wicca but has raped it during the compiling of the New Testament by the Council of Nicaea in AD 325. Holidays: # Easter, the ressurection of Christ. The wiccan celebration of the Vernal Equinox representing the rebirth/ of the Earth known as Spring, around 20th March (also the conception of Horus, the divine child). Why do you think that Alexandria chose to co-ordinate Christian Easter with 21st March (hint: ressurection/rebirth)? # Christmas, the birth of Jesus of Nazareth. The wiccan celebration of Winter Solstice representing the birth of the Sun because it is at this point that daytime starts to increase in length, around 22nd December. Why do you think that Sextus Julius Africanus popularized the brith of Jesus as nine months after the Vernal Equinox (hint: annual celebration of the conception of Horus being nine months before the birth of Jesus)? # Father's day and Mother's day, the respect for parenting. The wiccan celebration of Summer Solstice worshiping the male (God) and Vernal Equinox worshiping the female (Godess). Why do you think that the Christian religion chose to co-ordinate Father's day with 21st June and Mother's day with 21st March (hint: father being male and mother being female)? Demonizations: # According to Chriatianity women are the fall of Man, Eve, Delilah, Queen of Sheba, Jezebel, etc. In wiccan philosophy women are revered above men because they are the only ones who can perform the greatest act possible: creating life! What is revered by Wiccans is wrong in Christianity. # According to Christianity sex is a taboo and should only be performed by married couples and NEVER publicly. Even speaking of it is almost taboo now, especially words like fuck and twat! Procreation is viewed by the Wiccans as devine, again the only way to create life. So the Wiccans have ceremonies and rituals in respect for the act and the pleasure. Sex is pleasurable because it is necessary for the survival of any sexually reproductive organism, how can necessity be morally inept? On a side note, the Ancient Greeks and Romans were civlized and yet they saw nothing wrong with it. What is revered by Wiccans is wrong in Christianity. # Witchcraft is the work of the devil according to Christianity. Witchcraft is the abilities that we have forgotten, like telepathy, telekinesis, pyrokinesis etc. These abilities do exist in small amounts today due to it being driven almost out of existance by Christianity. Withcraft does not defy the laws of physics, merely not understood (at least by Christians). As with everything that people couldn't understand, witchcraft was attributed to deities and spirits and because Christianity was trying to oust Wicca it attributed witchcraft to the deity/angel Lucifer.

I guess you can say they are linked like Harry Potter and Voldermort are linked. :) The whole rise of Christianity was based on the slaughter of pagans. Modern neo-paganism is not exactly the same as the original pagan beliefs, but they are definitely an homage to them. And the fact that people are turning to those beliefs now shows how Christianity is not meeting the needs of modern people.

I don't think much about wicca, but some rituals and dogmas in Christianity do have origins in pagan rituals and beliefs. The term Easter is one example; the date we celebrate Christams and other holy days is another.

Wiccian were instructed by fallen IE cursed angels to use the arcane which is strictly forbidden in the end of the old testiment. So what I think is it praying to the fallen which unless you think those already caste out of heaven got a shot at beating the OLD mighty the creator in the end of time that the wiccians or witches will be greatly saddened and surprised to find out what it is that will happen to them. Also the Wiccians holidays were kind of obsurbed by the Church made neutral of their Witch Craft Hertiage and were assimilated into Christomdom. I think witch craft will send people to hell, have a good day.

I'm against it, personally, because I am a Christian and do not support Paganism. I don't believe that Biblical Christianity has any ties to Paganism whatsoever. -In the Master's service. Thank you and God bless you!

I don t think they are linked I feel many of the wiccan Ideas are good, I do not believe they are an bad or mislead culture. I believe they are simple, naturalists and good hearted .!

Numerous 'Christian' beliefs are rooted in pagan religion....all of which were derived from the the false religions of Babylon. It's actually documented, on both ends, in the Bible. Meaning, the rise of Babylon in Genesis (just after the Great Flood) and the ultimate fall of Babylon, false religion, in the book of Revelations. So, we have things like Easter. Ostensibly a 'Christian' holiday, but having nothing to do with anything in the Scripture. Wrapped in pagan imagery of spring fertility (Egg/Bunny) and carrying the name of a false god (Easter: Eostre or Ishtar). Many of what are thought of as 'Christian' beliefs, such as the Trinity, Hellfire, Christmas, etc....all have nothing to do with Scripture and everything to do with Pagan/Babylonian beliefs. So then, are all 'Christians' practicing their belief wrong? No, there is a group that is following the Bible and praising God in a way that pleases him. It's the Jehovah's Witnesses. This is why we don't celebrate hol(y)idays rooted in anything BUT the Bible and avoid any trappings or association with things rooted in the Babylonish/Paganistic beliefs.

well, duh. Of course it is. Anyone ever taken a look at the Wiccan image of "God"? It's the same image as christian's "Satan"...except not red. They did this on purpose to drive up business when all those Christian crusades were going on. Paganism was huger than Christianity for a very very very long time, and Christians had to do whatever they could to make a transition easier for these Pagans who didn't want to switch. So...they made the holidays around the same times so it would be easier to just keep on celebrating (just say it's for this god...not the old ones guys, ok?). Then, to play real hard ball, they made the creater of all EVIL get this (it WAS a pretty inovative idea) look just like the pagan god...so of course, all the remaining Pagan's must be SATAN WORSHIPPERS!!!! (Of course, the Pagan's didn't know who this Satan guy was...they were out having a good time celebrating life and being happy while Christains were out torturing people). Sorry, Christian's annoy me with their jesus' way or your a piece of sh*t....are you kidding? I've read the bible...many times forced by "good christians" trying to make me give a crap about a fictional story that is not the LEAST bit interesting. It contradicts itself so often if a modern day editor got his hands on it, and didn't know what it was, he'd delete whole chunks for saying the opposite of the authors point back in chapter 1. God's a vindicted bastard...be good...or ELSE! God loves everyone. he'll forgive your sins cause he sent his son down, and this kid died on a cross and so therefore when YOU two thousand years later finally die...you'll be all set to go right to Heaven!! what?? Oh...but only if you believe. There's that little catch they throw in at the end of the commercial. *Only if you accept Jesus Christ as your true and personal savior and you must accept this offer now, before death, before the pearly gates, or you will not collect Eternal Life. Without acceptance of Jesus Christ, you will instead collect some hellfire and brimstone. Have a nice Afterlife.

Wicca and Christianity do not mix well. From what I have been able to learn so far: Wicca is a Neopagan religion, which started in the late 1940s. However, its symbols, days of celebration, beliefs and deities go back to about 800 B.C.E. and the beginnings of ancient Celtic society. Some Wiccan are + Monotheistic, recognizing a single supreme being, "The All" or "The One" + Duotheistic, worshiping a female Goddess and a male God, "the Lady and Lord" + Polytheistic, recognizing many ancient Gods and Goddesses, like Pan, Diana, Dionysius, Fergus, etc. + Atheistic, viewing the Goddesses and Gods as symbols, not living entities Some Wiccans consider Wicca and Witchcraft to be the same thing. Others think that Wicca (a religion) and Witchcraft (the practice of magic by anyone) are different things. Most Wiccans practice magic. However, some concentrate only on the spirituality of the Wiccan religion and do not practice magic. In Christianity, Satan is a fallen angel, the devil. Wiccans recognize neither Christ nor Satan and are therefore not Satanists. Wiccan behavior is governed by the Wiccan Rede which permits Wiccans to engage in carefully considered actions (including magic), as long as they harm nobody, including themselves. Therefore, they claim that they are limited to non-manipulative, consensual, positive magic. Other pagan groups that use witchcraft do not follow this rule. http://www.religioustolerance.org/wic_intr.htm http://www.holysmoke.org/wicca/satvnp.htm http://www.witchway.net/ Monotheistic religions like Judaism, Christianity, and Islam disagree with the Wiccan view of God and magic. Christians believe that all supernatural power (including magic) either comes from God or Satan. God did not intend humans to wield this power. We request (pray) God to do some good thing like a miracle but we acknowledge God’s will first, “Thy will be done.” Using supernatural power puts us in contention with the will of God and even in the position of being God. Catholic Church teaches: All practices of magic or sorcery, by which one attempts to tame occult powers, so as to place them at one's service ... - even if this were for the sake of restoring their health - are gravely contrary to the virtue of religion. For more information, see the Catechism of the Catholic Church, section 2117: http://www.nccbuscc.org/catechism/text/pt3sect2chpt1.htm With love in Christ.

I think our religion and culture are just fine. Wicca and Christianity have little to do with one another. They are separate religions that do not even share pantheons.
-
Wicca is the opposite of Christianity. Christianity is of the Father. Wicca is of Satan the deceiver.

Well, I'm going to hell to it seems. I converted from being a Baptist to being a Wiccan about 20 years ago. All I can say is: I'm a lot happier and healthier then my family. I consider Christianity to be a mostly destructive, negative force that encourages ignorance, guilt, thoughtless obediance and self delusion. I hope sincearly that my great great grandchildren (into whose line I intend to reincarnate) live long enough to see it go the way of the dinosaur. To my Pagan sisters and brothers, I offer a blessing that a follower of Astru once gave me: May you be partying in Valhalla for 5 full days before the White Christ even knows you're dead!

the druids were taken down by the roman christians and the druid's celebrations were also taken over by christian holidays....so yes i believe they are linked. such as samhain and halloween which was all hallow's eve and they are connected as well.

I dont really like it, I have never met a wiccan I dont like though. I have only had unpleasent experences with wicca. When I was in high school I had a couple of freinds who were wiccan. They put protection spells on their friends me included, when I was in the same house as them when they were doing this I started having convulsions and feeling a ripping in my chest. I couple of very unnatural things happend that evening. Ever since I have just kept away from them when they were practicing. I still like the people though... I dont think they are linked directly.

i respect the fact that anybody can believe what culture and religion they want, what ever floats their boat. it is all personal choice. i do not think Christianity and Wicca are "linked" even in the slightest sense of the word...they may share similar credes but that is all....actually my belief is that the are totally opposed to each other... Christianity is believing in Christ as the Messiah and Son of God ,period, and I don't believe Wicca does this....lots of religious practices teach Peace and Goodwill... to each his own...
