  • Great question, but I don't have a cell phone or a Blackbury, so can't answer. To make matters worse, I use Vonage which does not have a direct 911 hook up. Just stop over and rob me now.
  • Currently 6 out of 6 respondents believe that doing so is not possible. Therefore based upon the evidence I say it is impossible to do so. Source: http://wis.dm/questions/238188-is-it-possible-to-text-a-message-to-911
  • I think dialing 911 on your cell phone would be easier , they would have to have a system for that , I would imagine
  • Not yet. They still haven't planned a way to have it successfully work yet, but they are planning to do that with a plan called NG911 (Next-Gen 911) which would allow people to contact 911 through texts, email, and more easily through VoIP. http://www.nola.com/frontpage/t-p/index.ssf?/base/news-6/1152079275187350.xml But, there are many 911 districts planning to incorporate an operating 911 text message system. The following link is about how LAPD plans to use it, soon. http://www.sciencedaily.com/upi/index.php?feed=TopNews&article=UPI-1-20070613-07435200-bc-us-911texts.xml

  • just dial 911. cell phones are handy.
  • The only "TEXT" 911 people have would be the TDD System. It's for People that are deaf. The only difference is they stick the phone on a machine and type away whats wrong...It will pop up on the dispatchers 911 screen.
  • The answer is no, not at present. Currently text messages are routed to different mobile phone short codes and mobile numbers. The system needs to be provisioned the mobile phone industry.
