i think people can make you question your beliefs based on new information being presented but i do believe its still ultimately up to the person. for instance, they prove that evolution has occured and people still hold on to religion. some people have a mix of both. with abortion theres a middle ground of pro - choice instead of against abortion or pro - life. you can only open the eyes and give information and then sit and wait to see where it leads

No, I am open to discussion because I like to hear others points of view but on those particular issues and a lot of others my mind is pretty much set and will remain that way.
-
Yes, if they bring up points that I had never considered before. I might view things differently with new information.
-
Yes, when I was first listening to Ron Pauls speech on abortion, I went in strongly pro choice, however after hearing his speech, and the passion behind it I began to question my ideals.
-
No, I really don't think they can. I don't mind hearing new information on the subject if someone REALLY wants to talk about it - but it's not going to change the way that I think about those things.
-
I don't think another individual would be able to do that, but experience of life and taking into account the opinions of a number of people can. For example I used to support capital punishment, but now I don't. I also used to have slightly racist tendencies and now I don't. This latter thing was based on ignorance because I never came into contact with people of other ethnicities. Now that I have a broader experience I realise that people are just people.

One some issues, perhaps, but not others. I'd be easy to sway on the death penalty, probably, if somebody presented a compelling argument. But not abortion. Those issues which deal with my faith are not likely to change -- political ones, however, are fair game.
-
I don't think that people can change your views as much as circumstances and experiences that come your way. One thing I am starting to learn is that no matter what subject there is always an opposing view, and how shortsighted if we dont even take time to consider different opinions on things.
-
Nope. I've got strong feelings about both. I doubt there's anything that anyone can say to change my mind about either of them.
-
Yes, I believe most people who actually are taught or research the death sentence (properly) and are not sociopaths or have suffered a murder in their own family, would actually be against it. After all, think of all the innocent people executed by mistake!. That's the best argument against the death penalty!. There are many others though, for example if it is OK for the State to murder for a given reason, why can't everyone else? http://www.innocenceproject.org/

I have heard that if one does not condone the death penalty and does not have children, that can change if they do eventually have children. I believe that it can happen.
-
Yes if they present a compelling argument that i haven't considered before. I wouldn't like to claim "I am right and that's all there is to it", i would like to think that i have the openness to keep reconsidering my argument.
-
I am open minded, I'll listen but I have my doubts.
-
The death penalty no, because i am very much of my opinion and am steadfast in it... Abortion perhaps because it is a much more grey and tricky issue, and my opinion is not as definate, but i think for the most part my mind is not easy to change about such issues.
-
not sure, good Q tho'. I have not changed my mind about things, but I have become a lot more aware of them after speaking with other people. but on these two topics, it's a personal view, therefor it doesn't matter if you change them or not, it'll always be your view and you are entitled to that.
