In China and Korea they do.
-
Because their is an emotional connection.
-
I must admit, the cuteness of my pet has often made me want to gobble him up, but then upon contemplating this, I feel I really would miss him after I was finished. LOL!
-
Because of the following reasons. 1.) I don't think they would taste very good 2.) I love my pet, and would rather have it as a companion 3.) It's illegal (I think it is anyway) Also, what are you trying to imply with your question? That non-vegetarians would eat anything?
-
Because I love my cat and dog. I might eat yours if it's ugly. I have had a "gato taco" once I ate it before I knew what it was. It tastes like chicken.
-
I feel it's my responsibility to care for them. I have taken them in as pets. However, I might consider eating one of your pets. :)
-
I do not believe because we are meat eaters we would eat our pets, what next cannibilism.
-
Millions of non-vegetarians eat cats and dogs. We in the west don't because we consider them to be pets and parts of our families. We are also not on the verge of starvation or we would be eating them.
-
I've been thinking about that. I know what they eat. I know they are not full of antibiotics and other chemicals that go into commercial meats. I ate cat and dog in S.E. Asia when I was in the military. (It was delicious!) In most places in the world it is just another source of protein. Good question! +2

That's a bit extreme, isn't it?
-
It's intended as a pet. If I wanted to eat it I wouldn't let something like an emotional attachment grow. You're sickening.
-
If you consider it carefully, meat-eaters usually only eat herbivores or omnivores. Carnivores are less often eaten, although in some cultures they are. That is the main reason why we don't usually eat cats or dogs. Then there is the secondary reason that they are pets, or, as they were originally, working animals. You don't eat your working animals.
-
I don't eat my pets because I have a personal, heartfelt connection with them. And although I have been considering becoming a vegetarian, I think that, to some extent, this question could be considered offensive. I mean, really, no one is that thoughtless and crude to the point where they are eating their own pets. I understand that many vegetarians feel strongly about the issue of eating animals because of the concern of animal rights, but that is an opinion-- a belief. You can't press your beliefs on other people. There is nothing wrong with people who eat a diet consisting of meats. You need to have an open mind with those kinds of things, really. You can't expect that everyone is going to feel bad because they don't think the same way that you do. I'm not saying that this is what you're trying to do or what you think, but that's how it comes off to some people.

Just because I eat meat does not mean I eat all meat options. I don't eat bear or dingos either. BUT, if my family and I were starving, little poochie would have to die. I am thinking a ginger and teriyaki sauce. Maybe some lemon pepper on the grill.
-
I don't eat anything thats cute. I won't eat a deer if I saw it, I won't eat our chickens eggs. I eat the eggs and meat that they make in the store and wrap with plastic on those styrofoam trays. You know, the stuff that comes out of their magic machine in the back of the butcher area that wasn't ever a cute critter!
-
Ron, you are coming off a bit harsh with your question. I don't eat flesh because I hate the taste. Some people don't eat meat for ethical reasons. Some people do eat cats and dogs. Some people eat chicken. Some people eat people. Some people believe in jesus, some in ganesh.
-
I'm a vegan, but was just curious what the replies would be like. So have you thought about it at all? What makes a cat or dog different from a lamb or baby chick? In Korea, some people eat dogs, so I suppose it's based in culture also.
-
If you ask this question in China, Korea, they will answer to you they eat
-
Great question! Undoubtedly, some omnivores won't "get" what you are saying.
