  • Green. Green is dominant to blue but recessive to brown. Blue eyes are becoming less common in U.S. residents who identify themselves in census and other records as being of European, non-Hispanic ancestry. This is probably because the blue-eyed trait tends to be recessive or less likely to express when genetic influences of brown or green eyes are present. http://vision.about.com/od/opticsvisiontheory/qt/blueeyes.htm
  • Blue eyes are less common because they're a recessive trait; whereas, green eyes are most common than blue eyes. I hope this helps to answer your question!
  • Actually blue eyes are more common. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eye_color i know this link isn't exact but.. http://www.bestandworst.com/r/4974.htm
  • green eyes are rare, lots of people have blue eyes, its a fact. but im not talking about the hazel'y green color i mean the 100% green
  • I do know that blue eyes are much more common, and green is rare.
  • Blue eyes are definitely more common. My brother and I both have bright green eyes. I have never met or seen anyone, other than the two of us, with the same shade of green eyes. We both married spouses with blue eyes. Both of my children have their father's blue eyes. My brother has 3 children, 2 of which have their mother's blue eyes, one ( his middle child and a girl) has green eyes like ours with the exception of having a brown spot in one. My mother in-law has olive green eyes and father in-law has blue eyes. My husband has blue eyes and his sister has brown eyes. If you stop to think about it, over the course of your life, so far, how many blue and brown eyed people have you met, versus the number of green eyed people. Blue and brown are definitely more prevalent.
  • To add to my previous comment: I started out with light blue eyes as a baby and toddler. My eyes changed to bright green when I was 5 years old. You can also check the Wikepedia dictionary online to see that brown is considered the most common and green the least. Just go to google and ask the question: how common are green eyes?
  • Here's an interesting trivia questin about eye color: what famous actress had violet colored eyes? : )
  • According to statistics taken in 150 countries brown are more common.
  • blue for sure i have seen maybe 3 people with green eyes and about 20 with blue (thats just that i have noticed) i am talking GREEN not somewhat green
  • Blue eyes, because they're a recessive trait, more of a birth defect actually .. its a mild form of albinism, a lack of the neccessary melenin deficiency to produce brown eyes. Green eyes are also a birth defect. They are genetic combo of brown and blue, and much less common of a birth defect.
  • Green eye color is amongst the rarest eye color, with only 1-2% of the world's population born with green eyes. I'm half black and I have green eyes. I only know 2 other people (apart from my mother and brother) that have green eyes.
  • I myself have beautiful green eyes, my teenage children, a boy with blue eyes and a girl that has blue eyes with a green speck on one of them that stands out like her eye is two different colors at times, and completely blue at other times.I pay attention to the eyes of the people i meet, and i would say blue and brown are more common.
