Post lunch (or post heavy food intake) the blood supply is directed more towards the stomach system / digestive system for digestion of the food you had a while ago. Thus the blood supply to the brain is reduced - and the brain gets the indication to close down some of its functions and hence we feel sleepy. If you do not want to feel sleepy - Best way is to eat less or drink more water. (That is why the veteran drivers avoid heavy food-intake before driving. We usually carry small packs of snacks while going for a long picnic drive.)
