  • We are doing it through the endless wars that we create.
  • Consider this; when the Europeans arrived in the "new world" it was populated natives who, for the most part, tended to live with the natural resources without doing much to hurt them. That means for centuries (or millenniums, depending on your point of view)mother nature managed to grow forests and grasslands and run rivers and balance everything pretty well. Also, the native population hadn't overrun their resources. Now look at the Eurasian landmass, which is today the "heart" of civilization. Throughout the history of this landmass there have been innumerable wars, pestilence, famines, and other natural disasters. Back in the 15th century (was it that century or the one before?) the black plague wiped out a significant percentage of the European population. So I would say that war and pestilence and famine and other natural disasters are nature's way of keeping some kind of balance between man and non-man aspects of living things on this planet. In other words, nature, including man's nature, seems to do the culling.
