  • No. Make no mistake about it - Satan is the bad guy. He is the essence of evil. And on a personal note, having seen first-hand the unbelievable amount of harm that comes from a single lie, any creature, being, or entity known as "The father of lies" cannot possibly be "the good guy".
  • Well, I do think that, actually. I don't believe that the Biblical account of anything is true. However, if you read the Bible, it is pretty darn clear who is evil, and it isn't the character known as Satan.
  • This is a very interesting question. I recently read about this theory that the God (Yahweh) an eye for an eye of the Old Testament and the God (Jehovah) father of Jesus, turn the other cheek of the New Testament are in fact different Gods. Jehovah being stronger 'kicked Yahweh off his playground' . So.... Why not Satan too??
  • Read a book called: The Devils Apocrypha. For a better understanding.
  • Gnostic Lucifarianism holds a belief that is far more inline with the Book of Genisis that traditional Christianity. They believe that God is the "demiurge". An evil, selfish, vain creature who created humanity to worship and praise him. Lucifer felt pity on the poor humans, and by getting them to eat of the tree, they could gain the knowledge of good and evil. With that knowledge, they can see God for what he really is and reject him. It was for that reason that God punished Adam and Eve, and God caused all of the other plights of mankind in the Bible, such as the flood. Torturing humanity was Gods way of punishing Lucifer, because God knew how much Lucifer loved humans. Lucifer then appeared on earth in human form- as Jesus. This sacrifice was done to appease God- to be his final punishment, in order to get God off of our backs and let us live in peace without him torturing us. This concept more closely matches other "light bearer" myths, like Prometheus.
  • In early Hebrew tradition, Satan, which means adversary, was actually appointed by God to test mankind. He isn't evil, he actually is doing God's will, making sure only the worthy enter God's kingdom in Heaven. Although to me, that sounds kind of evil - not the testing mankind, but the following the will of a being that seems only to want to be blindly worshipped, praised, and obeyed. The serpent of Genesis wasn't evil, unless disobeying or promoting disobedience to God is inherently evil. He helped mankind attain genuine free will - knowledge of good and evil. In this capacity, he is like the Greek titan-god Prometheus, defying Zeus by giving humans fire and knowledge. But we should be clear. The Christian conception of Satan is largely fabricated. It's a weird amalgamation of apocryphal texts (texts NOT included in the Bible), myths, borrowing from other cultures' religious traditions (most notably Zoroastrianism), with only a few rather uncompelling verses in the official Bible itself. Satan was synthesized from all these different sources to be a sort of "boogeyman" that was waiting to get you if you didn't have faith in God, and as a very shallow solution for the problem of evil (especially evil not perpetrated by humans, such as disease) existing in a world created by an omnibenevolent being (it obviously doesn't solve the problem, but superficially, to those not thinking about it clearly, it might, and did / does). I don't buy into any of it, but considering Judaeo-Christian-Islamic mythology objectively, Satan is a revolutionary, a noble fighter for freedom against the tyranny of the ultimate absolute dictator. He is a tragic figure, because he is fighting a battle doomed to be lost, against an all-powerful tyrant.
  • How come Satan gets a capitol letter and God didn't??
  • I definitely think Satan got a bad rap. I would definitely say that Satan is the good guy and the so-called "god" is the bad one. I think that is really clear.
  • To answer babycakes question: Satan gets the capitol letter and "god" doesn't because Satan deserves it and "god" does not. Just my opinion.
  • No. Satan's name tells that he is bad. 'Satan' means 'Adversary'! "Jesus"(who is JEHOVAH God) means "JEHOVAH is Salvation" and "Christ" means "The Annointed One". Their names tell us which one is good and which is bad and their personalites as well. Satan is a liar and the father of it. Jesus Christ is the only begotten Son of God as well as the Creator--your Creator, and He loves you, shed His precioud blood for you, and died for you on the cross of Calvary. He rose again from the dead with everlasting life and defeated Satan that day a little over 2,000 years ago, so I'd trust Christ instead of Satan because Satan has already lost. :) -In the Master's service. Thank you and God bless you!
  • No he could not be he harshly punishes those who are bad.
  • If you were to really read the bible and understand what its telling you then no you wouldnt think its even remotely possible for satan to be a good guy.
  • Satan has been given a horribly bad reputation. The truth is that Satan is God. The bible was not written by God, it was written by the Jews. The bible was written to empower the Jews and enslave the Gentiles. Check out joyofSatan.com and exposingChristianity.com. The God of the bible is in reality, the Jewish people. This is obvious with enough study along with a clear mind.
  • check out http://www.satansstranger.com/ satan would have wrote the same thing?
  • I dont think that is true
  • haha! you make me laughf![: wait i hope your jokeing! 0:
  • I always thought God was the bad guy, because you can live well and still be damned
  • I completely agree with everything you said.
  • Yeah, and maybe I have a family of unicorns living under my bed.
  • So you're asking if it's all propaganda? I say it is but that's what Satan is for. To be universally hated and become a unifying factor for mankind. We're supposed to hate him regardless of whether or not Satan's a swell guy like he is on TV.
