  • yes and no...yes because it would look odd with only 8 toes...and no because over evolution...it isnt used that much any more...;)
  • It's necessary to God if he exists. He has to show his sense of humor wherever he can.
  • Nah. That was total balance overkill on the part of evolution.
  • Other than to balace the foot with societies 'norm' no. On my right foot I have no mobility in my pinky toe. Other than it looking a little funny when I wiggle my [other 9] toes, there are no issues.
  • No. Nor are most of the other toes. The only toe that is necessary is the big toe, which is used for balance. The others are, basically, vestigial in humans.
  • It does provide balance, but the human body can be quite resilliant and recover and adapt if something is injured or lost.
  • You need it for the pinky toe ring.
  • Sounds silly , though it does help with your balance
  • It is completely necessary. IF God placed it there, it is needed. It also helps with balance. So does all other 'vestigial' organs. The Appendix is now known to be needed to help digest herbs and vegetation. Humans were vegetarian, as the Word of God says. This is proof. Everything in my body IS needed. Even the tail bone, no it's not a remnant of our primate ancestor's tails. It holds muscles that if we didn't have we'd be in trouble. Not to mention nerves in the spinal cord.
  • Yes, it does help with balance just as the big toe does and maybe the middle one, the other two just "balance" the look:)
  • Yes, it is necessary. Even though I have injured it more then once. They are still needed for balance.
  • Whether you believe it or not, all toes help with balance. Since I no long have any (all amputated - infections/diabetic ulcers), I still have balance, but it hits me in my lower back and hips. Part has to do with a knee that won't bend right (only 90 degrees - and too a while to rehab to that after surgery), and not being able to walk very far without getting sores on the soles of my feet (therefore, not being able to be ON my feet for long), but given the choice, I'd keep all that I can!
  • How else can we go "wee wee wee!" all the way home?
