  • I like the "Stargate" theory, however, here's a thought...History Channel recently had a show about how the earth was formed. Since the ocean floors are constantly changing, it could have been covered up by thousands of years of sediment, turnover, erosion or even volcanic activity that just blew it up...if it did exist as an island. And, since it would now be under water, it would be absolutley impossible to conduct an "archeological dig" under water...unless we knew exactly where it existed. There just isn't enough info on it's location, or even enough "credible" info on it's existence to put much manpower, money or efforts into checking it out.

  • I think Possibly Alantis used to exist but it was swallowed by the ocean or some volcanic or typhoon disaster caused it to no longer be around
  • I think Atlantis could've existed at some time. It probably wasn't as magnificant or advanced as the poets of old have written and modern science fiction writers depict. It probably was a bronze age empire that resided somewhere near North and/or South America that had some trade routes to Africa(Egypt). In my mind it probably was destroyed by tsunami, likely caused by earthquake or landslide. Seeing how much an island can change after such event, look at the 2004 tsunami. Entire islands can be wiped clean of settlements and earth moved, changing the geography of the island as well. But that's just my thoughts on it. As for backing it up with evidence, I can't, it's only my opinion about the subject.
  • Well i watch this tv show Stargate Atlantis which is about the lost city of the ancients and was sealed under water but it was uncovered and taken over by humans. so that show kind of puts an idea in my mind of what happened to atlantis. you should watch the show it's really good aye
  • Considering it was, at best, a city state inferior in technology to ancient Athens that suddenly sank into the sea, though more likely, an ancient fable used by Plato to try to prove a bigger point about government, no. There is absolutely no way Atlantis, if indeed it ever existed, somehow lives and thrives underwater.
  • I doubt it. I haven't seen any real "evidence" of an Atlantis ever existing aside from anecdotes and circumstantial stuff. Our technology is fantastic, and despite the fact that we haven't entirely mapped the ocean floor, it is still pretty unlikely that the part we haven't mapped contains some mystical lost city.
  • I don't know if Atlantis existed or not, but I think the story is credible because it contains characters from other stories like Hercules. I think that it would be unlikely that Atlantis still existed in an underwater colonie, but that would sure be sweet if it did.
