Jam in the UK usually has fruit pieces in it. Jelly has no fruit. There is far more jam sold in the shops than jelly. Does this answer your question?

Jam is opaque, and show significant evidence of the fruit from which it is made i.e. strawberry jam contains some squidgy bits of strawberry, raspberry jam contains raspberry pips and so on. If it is clear, it is jelly.

UK Jelly = US jello. Jelly in the UK is what you make up with water. You set it and it wobbles. Jam in the UK is what Americans call preserve or whatever. It comes in a jar and you spread it on bread. You can have it in cakes too. The first picture shows what UK people call jelly and the second is what UK people call jam. The rest of Europe will call jam/jelly different things, given they speak totally different languages!
