  • I know that in Gwinett County, Georgia some woman was trying to get the Harry Potter books banned.
  • Daddy's Roommate by Michael Willhoite. A book targeted towards pre-K to 2nd graders to talk about why Daddy has a "close, male friend with a neatly trimmed moustache". Be clear and define what you mean by censorship. If Barnes and Noble chooses not to put a book on their shelves, that is not censorship. Censorship, in the 1st Amendment aspects, can only be defined within the context of government. So... Are you talking about the government preventing a book from being published, distributed or sold? OR Are you talking about a book being banned from a public county or city library by the local municipality? OR Are you talking about a book being placed behind the counter or in a verification section at a public county or city library? OR Are you talking about a book being kept off the shelf (i.e. never having been purchased for the library) of an elementary or middle school? OR Are you talking about a book being taken off the shelf of an elementary or middle school? OR Are you talking about a book being placed behind the counter of an elementary or middle school? Only some of these have been found to be censorship.
