  • It's probably for whites. Whites stay whiter if you wash them in hot water and use bleach.
  • If you are using cloth diapers, you really want hot water, not warm or cold. Otherwise the germs that cause rashes, that ammonia smell, etc., just aren't eliminated. Believe me, I have tried using less than hot water and vowed 'Never again!'
  • once in a while hot washes in your washing machine are necessary for your clothes.it kills the germs and bacteria which cannot be seen, the same logic some places some people dry their clothes directly under the sun for the same reason.as it is not possible for everybody, we are given an option of hot water washing.
  • I never use hot, not once in the 4 years I've washed my own clothes. I think theres more chance of the clothes shrinking or losing colour when in hot. Not sure if I'm right on this, but I see no point in wasting good hot water to wash my clothes.
